ha ha ha, good work peeps,

I'm in the studio at the moment, and haven't got access to mine off hand (ie, I'm actually going to stay up all night playing tracks on repeat to get together a acceptable top ten), what sort of listening figures are these weighing in at?

Its all looking fairly clean so far boys, I'm wondering what MD and Flood will throw up?

I think it would be safe to say, that so far The Council mainly likes to listen to music under the genres 'Indie/rock' and 'electronica'.

Right then, brace yourself... Here goes...

1) Can't Get No Sleep - Faithless (369)
2) Loaded - Primal Scream (330)
3) Hallelujah - Happy Mondays (306)
4) Good Luck - Basement Jaxx (293)

You'll also be pleased to know that Phil Collins features not too far away from the top. And "Oh Mandy" by Barry Manilow has been very popular lately.

369! fuck me floody. My top track has 65. Whats anyone else got listening wise? Barley likes his music new of course.

At 1:15 am, Blogger Captain said...

Floody's sounds like a right pill 'ead with most of them!! Luton, why not the iTunes top ten as specified, bit suspicious that most of yours are so new, what are we hiding there then eh??!!! My top one only has 49 plays and the bottom 35, I presume because you've got less music yours get's rotated more Flood?! Overall though, no real shockers (we all knew Bing was a James Morrison fan)

At 9:25 am, Blogger Mr Bizzle said...

Hi, my name's Flood, I'm just a happy, baggy, bouncy, mad-for-it, druggy, mong-dancing, fookin-avin-it guy.
Then in the morning when I'm coming down, I like to chill to a bit of Marley or lynard Skynard yeah?

I'd just like to say I'm a big fan of your number 9 Dan. I was going to buy tickets to see them, but the tinternet site I went to were charging £195 for a ticket that only had an orginal face value of £16.

Plus some of these music venues that kids go to these days, £4.20 for a can of beer. What's going on there? I can't afford to spend £42 to get drunk on crap cans of lager.

Sorry, just wanted to get that off my chest.

I think you can setup all kinds of 'intellgent playlists' in the itunes 'file' menu, or in the window preferences (ie the fields displayed) you can select play count for the ipod itself.

I'll get my diddle on in a few hours when I get back to London, looking forward to injecting a red hot spurt of rock into this thread.

(Fingers crossed)

At 3:47 pm, Blogger Mr Bizzle said...

Yes, it's easy dan, that's how I compiled mine, as I listen to everything through my ipod, not my computer. So, plug in your ipod and then choose to order them by 'playcount', (probably as you've already done with your itunes)

At 4:27 pm, Blogger Luton said...

Haha, you're a suspicious one aren't you Captain? That was posted from college on a PC.

My highest play counts were on my ipod, but had to restore it a couple of weeks ago, so I don't know the true Luton play count. I'm pretty sure though Gerry & The Pacemakers 'You'll Never Walk Alone' would have figured strongly.

Regardless, here's the itunes record:

1. The Night - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
2. Talk - Coldplay
3. Bullets - Editors
4. Feel Good Inc - Gorillaz
5. Square One - Coldplay
6. Friday I'm In Love - The Cure
7. Ooh La La - Goldfrapp
8. White Shadows - Coldplay
9. Close To Me - The Cure
10. Fly Me Away - Goldfrapp

Nice little play list you've got going on there Piglet.

17 comments, the most popular council thread. Mines through last.fm as thats everything i have ever played with my itunes at work and home on my last mac as well.

At 7:52 pm, Blogger Captain said...

And I was right to be with Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons at #1!!!! ;-)
We're starting to get some interesting artistes showing up, I must say!! Mine gets much more varied just outside the top ten, always skip the killers now as I obviously listened to them far too much early on!!! Would be good to do a poll every year, see how it changes, Beethoven at the top of Chops in 40yrs??!!!!

At 11:36 pm, Blogger Chopper said...

Here we go kiddie winks, this is my iPod one, which is similar to the Mac but the more interesting of the two;

1. Burn The Witch - Queens Of The Stone Age
2. The Sweets - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3. Warrior - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4. Doll Parts - Hole
5. Track 1 (You Are Free) - Cat Power
6. This Lullaby Queens Of The Stone Age
7. Analyse - Thom Yorke
8. Art Star - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
9. Skulls - The Misfits
10. Go With The Flow - Queens Of The Stone Age

Yeah! Courtney Love storming up there! And hey, now I've noticed; you go girls - nice to see some equality amoung all this indie male idolisation!

Great thread this, I admire everyone's honesty - at least I hope everyone has been 100%, and I've often said that a very 'sincere' gift that you could give someone is as many tracks as you can fit from your play count. It what make you tick I guess.

An interesting snapshot. Maybe we should set up new intelligent playlists to count from this moment on and see what erupts in 6 months?

Cheers!

(Chop pops back on his huge headphones and starts warbling along to Billie Piper's 'Honey To The Bee' for the 37th time today)

By the true nature of the charts, "I Wanna Be Adored" has leapfrogged to number 8 pop-pickers, and it's just been on shuffle (as usual!!), so there's no rigging going on!!

Chop, I love the name, Cat Power!
